According to legend this lake was the cradle of Inca Civilisation for Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo, Children of the Sun God, emerged from the cold waters of the Lake to found the City of Cusco and to start their civilisation. In here you will have the chance of experiencing the traditions and festivities that have been preserved by the population for centuries now.

Day 4:- Puno - Juliaca
Day1:- Juliaca - Puno Assistance on your arrival in Juliaca. On your way to Puno, visit the famous Chullpas of Sillustani, 12 m/40ft high stone cylinder burial chambers, used by the Aymaras to bury their important leader. Lake Umayo, located in front of the Chullpas, adds further beauty to the place. Here you also have the opportunity to observe wild guinea pigs, birds and other local wildlife. Arrival to selected hotel where you have free time to rest and get acclimatised to the altitude. |
Day 2:- Lake Titicaca: Floating Islands of the Uros and overnight at the Amantani IslandAfter breakfast, we take a two-hour motor boat excursion on the waters of Lake Titicaca to the unique Floating "Islands" of the Uros. These ancient inhabitants of the lake, known as the Water Tribe, have built their own "islands" by periodically adding new layers of a type of reed unique to the area called "Totora". Their homes and boats are also made from this material. After having experienced some of the ancient traditions of the local people, you continue your motor boat trip to Amantani Island. This island is inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives still governed by their ancient traditions, whose main occupations are the production of ceramics and textiles. The positive energy of this Island is so powerful that it is known as the "Love Island". Box lunch. Overnight at the house of a local islander to enjoy the hospitality of a typical Amantani home. |
Day 3:- Lake Titicaca: Amantani Island and Taquile Island - PunoAfter breakfast, you have time to stroll at leisure through the quaint streets of this colourful island. Late morning, you take a motor-boat to Taquile Island, also inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives who have developed efficient and unique social systems, as well as fine hand weaving techniques, down through the generations. |
